|Oldguy||I would suggest that you check to see if the holes in the LCA brackets on the frame are elongated. There are two sources of movement on a bushed control arm. The rubber or, heaven forbid, poly bushing breaking down, or elongated holes on the control arm brackets. You have eliminated the bushing by replacing it. Check for elongation.|

|Imped||I'm not sure how RE managed to get a reputation for building quality stuff, but a huge number of people sure seem to think they do. While it's not generally as bad as junk from Skyjacker or Superlift, it's definitely not up to the task if you're looking for long-term durability. The bushings have had known problems for years and the joints (if you have them) use UHMW races, which is just the wrong material for that application. I'm not at all surprised to hear that you're having issues.|

As for your problem, welcome to the land of rubber bushings and the associated deflection and wear they bring to the table. If you want a much more durable setup that won't allow unwanted movement in that direction, take a look at Currie JJ's. You can get a set of adjustable arms with JJ's at both ends from Savvy.

|06TJLOVER||The upper control arms are literally three months old so I doubt its the bushings in them. I just did a SYE and tom woods driveshaft in September. Everything has been fine until this happend. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section I'm not sure how to move it maybe an admin will.|

This needs to be posted in the TJ section.
The lower arms control the wheel base. The upper arms adjust and hold the pinion angle where it is. When TQ is applied (meaning the axle is getting power) the axle will rotate upwards. Currently the yoke on the axle is pointed slightly downward of your transfercase if you are looking at it on a plane. Now when it recieves power it will pick up slight to be even with the transfer case so you will not have any binding in the u-joints and everything is smooth. The point of all of this is your upper arm bushings might be bad.

Ok so my suspension/rear axle was making a horrendous pop noise all of a sudden the other day. So I had my brother jump in and let the clutch out cause thats when the noise would occur as soon as power was applied. I looked under my jeep and my whole rear end was twisting up and binding making a popping noise. So I started looking at all my arms to make sure everything was still holding my axle where it should. I noticed that my lower control arm was moving a little in the bracket attached to the frame so I decided it must have a bad bushing and was causing the axle to bind up under power. Ordered the bushing replaced it and it still makes the noise....WTF Why is my axle rolling up? Thanks for reading I know its kinda long winded.
