|4.0l sahara||Also on a modern car thats not the best thing to do. It can cause a voltage spike and kill the computer and other things.|

|MidnightYJ90||i disconnected the positive lead and the alternator is keepin the engine running, ill go clean the top and the posts and maybe that'll do it|

Get out the multi meter and do some testing. Don't just be a parts changer.
With jeep off battery should be around 12.6v
with jeep on around 14v on meter
Do a resistence check on the battery cables
Check for a big voltage drop from battery to starter.
have the alternator output checked
Do a load test on the battery. cheap way to do it is to hook up a meter disable the ignition and crank for 15 sec the voltage should stay above 9.5v
Is the top of your battery dirty? That can cause a drain. voltage will seep across the top.
Do you have a electrical drain or short?

grrr starting trouble
I guess to ask what i need to i have to start from the beginning. over the hunting season the jeep had some alternator->battery issues, both were changed ( Optima Yellow) and it was found that there was a short inbetween so a jumper was used and everything was great untill yesterday. now the dang thing is starting very weak but once it goes the gauge jumps to 14 and when i turn it off and back on its fine...but if it sits for a day its weak again. any ideas?
