Up Hill Bill Maybe folks in the TJ forum section could give you more help than the JK section...

jmb6420 Just depends on the going rate in your part of the country. On the title you say 98 Wrangler and in the description you say 88 Wrangler. It does make a difference.

Check for rust, check the fluids, give it a good test drive making sure 4wd works and use your judgement.

Help on this 98 Wrangler I'm Looking At

I'm sorry but I accidently posted this in the YJ section and still had 2 good post. Of course, I'll take all I can get. Please give your opinion.

I'm looking at this 1988 Wrangler Sport with a 6 inline, 5-speed and working AC. The downside, it has 167,000 miles on it. Overall, it's not in too bad a shape. The frame is solid and the body has the usual dings and scrapes. The rockers are covered and so I can't tell if there is significant rust underneath. It is Rhino-Lined.

Forest Green
4.0 Liter Inline 6
5 Speed Manual
Full Steel Doors and Half Steel with soft windows and extra set of mirrors
Brand new Rampage Bowless Soft Top
Brand New Fender Flares
Warn Front & Rear Bumpers with swing away tire carrier
XD9000 lb Warn Winch
KC Daylighters on the bumper
Warn Fog lights on the windshield frame
4" Suspension Lift
1" Body Lift
1" Motor Mount Lift
35x12.50x15 BFG MT KM2's on Mickey Thomson Classic 2 wheels
4.56 Yukon Gears
Hi-Lift style jack mounted on the roll bars
Flowmaster Muffler
Mangna Flow High Flow Cat

I test drove it and did not detect any death wobble however there seemed to be some play in the steering. I did not detect and oil burning, not dripping off the oil pan or seals and it seems to shift well.

There are some issues that need to be addressed like minor dents in the hood etc. The good news is, I can do body work and paint and these issues are minor. Also, there are some minor cosmetic issues such as trim and bumper paint. The interrior is about a 7 to an 8. The gentleman wants $8,000.00 for it.

Is this reasonable?
