First you have the wrong vehicle if its MPG's your worried about, You have a "Brick on Wheels". Enjoy the jeep for what it's made for exploring trails and places you've never been.
As for the diffs, more then likely you have D35's and will have a rubber plug in the diff cover to refill, which means you need to remove the diff cover for the fluids. You can either use RTV or order a set of LubeLockers for the Diffs.
The Lubelocker are worth buying, they are reusable as long as you dont over tighten the bolts and smach the gasket. You can get them at 4wd.com
I have a set and have been using them for about 3yrs now and I change my diffs about twice a year depending on how much wheeling I do and if I spend too much time in water or mud pits.
As for yout Turbo, I don't think that will fit or match up with the Jeeps 2.4. The powerchip isn't worth the money and for teh most part most of the "mods" like that are just money eaters and never see a real payoff in the end....

|kmaroman||yeah dont really wanna do any mods that decrease the mpg, i dont plan on taking it off roading or anything either. I haven't looked much into the power tech but from what I'm understanding its a neon based motor not alot of info on it. Except wondering if its possible to throw an srt4 turbo and wiring into it if i ever found the stuff extra cheap|

yep, a gasket kit (lubelocker) makes it easier to change, no clean up of the old sealant and reuseable, but rtv black or red works also if you dont mind cleaning it up each time. Any conventional gear oil or synthetic in the 75W 90W range is good for the diffs
as for HP and fuel economy, I'd say maintaining factory spec's on tire pressure, spark plugs, etc is the best bet, haven't really heard of any "tuner" style upgrades that don't just spend your money. A re-gear gives you a "seat of your pants" improvement as far as acceleration but comes at a high cost and lose of fuel economy somewhat. I am not real familiar with the 2.4L though and am going of my findings with a older 2.5 with a distributor.
As an example i just took a road trip in my 99 with 33" tires and 4.10 gears and maintained 18.8 mpg through four tanks of gas. Best i have heard is around 22-23 from other members on here, but forget what their setups were.

|jerladd||I had a 98 TJ 4 banger and the best fuel economy I got on it was when it was stock. Once the tires, lift, and so on came the fuel economy decreased. If your Wrangler came with the manufacturers book it should have a list of all the fluids and capacities in it. I've always done what is recommended but for oils I use full synthetics. You'll need to remove the diff covers to drain the fluids and you can get a gasket kit or a good seal compound instead.|

Jeep wrangler noobie with some ?s
I recently purchased an 05 wrangler base model with a 2.4l power tech and six speed manual. I enjoy it as is but would like to get some tech tips today so any helps appreciatted.
First what are some good mods to help improve fuel economy, and possible net a few extra horsepower. Also it dues to have the differential fluids changed whats a good recommended fluid for this? I haven't really looked under it, do the diffs have drain plugs or will i need to remove the covers and probably get a gasket kit as well?
Any mods that just make it more a convenient or such? Any cool faqs or tips?
