LilYeller I live in south florida and I dont use anything but 10w-30. I also throw some Lucas oil additive in the mix to keep it all fresh and clean. I use 1 bottle Lucas and 4 quarts 10w-30 to keep it all running perfectly in the Sunshine State.

s3nt3nc3d Different engines require different oils...also I believe certain transmissions and transfer cases can use motor oil in them.

For the Jeeps... owner's manual states 5w-30 in colder weather, 10w-30 in warmer weather.

scottywags Alright so after reading more about oil than I ever wanted or thought I would. It seems that some of the newer cars recommend a 5w30 but as long as you are in a warmer climate then a 10w30 should be used. Not sure why Auto part stores in Central and southern FL would even carry a 5w.

Hot weather TJ what oil

I have a 98 4.0 and in FL where even this winter it's barely dipped below 75 during the day....the guy at the APS told me that a 5w30 would be best in the hot weather. But everything I've read is that the TJ's like at least a 10w30.
