TWIZTIDNINJA I have an ax5 and 231 transfer under 150,00 miles for sale I'm going to take pics and list it tomorrow. You can have the trans and case for $250 plus shipping.

thats how i got mine. they also came behind the 3.9L v-6 but its a different bellhousing.

A dakota with a 2.5 has an ax-15. You could find one of those and take the whole tranny. Then he would just need a 23 spline input for the tcase.

jr78racer while kinda pricey advance adapters does have the parts to adapt a ax-15 (the 4.0L five speed) which is significantly stronger than the four cylinder trans (ax-5). you would need a bellhousing adapter kit and a new transfer case gear (ax-5 is 21 spline and ax-15 is 23 spline). just a thought. probably could find an ax-15 easier. idk what your budget is.

Just blew my trans!

I just lost the transmission on my '95 Rio Grande! I've called every junk yard in a 50 mile radius. Any advice out there. The Jeep is in great condition and my daily driver so I have to get it fixed!
