TnDz TJ What axle? 35 or 44. They are quite different when it comes to axle bearings.

Dana 35 axle bearings are pressed into the axle tubes behind seals. Have to get into the carrier and remove the axle C clips to remove axles....

Dana44 axle bearings are pressed onto the axle shaft and ride in a race that is pressed into the axle tube. The 4 bolt flange holds the axle into the housing. Both bearing and race should be replaced

Drums have to come off...axles and backing plates removed to access the bearings/races and seals...

For reference...

Dana35 bearing that is pressed into the axle tube... self-contained

Dana44 bearing is pressed onto the axle shaft... you can see the backing plate floating behind the bearing in this pic

how to change rear wheel bearing??

ive got a 05 tj and is there a special way to change the rear wheel bearings or do you have to take the whole drum apart to get to them?
