|Mom sold the Jeepster||Haven't done a lift but most say 31's will rub under full turn and that a lift won't help the rub, only back spacing will alleviate the rub. There is endless reading on the subject here, have fun. Check the price difference in tires on 15" rims vs. 17" rims. It's unbelievable. 33's on 15's are way cheaper than 33's on 17's|

There's a boat load of info here if you spend some time reading the stickies...
That being said, a 33 won't fit a stock TJ, and allow driving over anything as large as your average curb.

Just Bought a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X - Tires and Rims Question
I'm a bit of a newb with Jeeps since this is my first one so i have a question for my first modification - wheels and tires. I recently bought a 2006 Wrangler X and was wondering if the wheel and tire combo I want will fit the factory Jeep without being lifted (i plan on doing that at a later point):
I'm looking at getting:
Wheels: 15x8 Ultra Crusher Black Painted
Tires: 33x12.5R15 Wrangler DuraTrac's
What backspacing am i going to need for the wheel/tire combo to fit properly?
Also - if i buy a 5th tire and wheel will i have difficulties mounting it on the back as a spare?
Any help is greatly appreciated - thank you!
