@ clb-logan ... thanks! Right now I'm leaning towards Kenwood (with Nav) when the time comes. Altough at the same time, I've been looking at the integration of an 7" andoid tablet. So many choices where our end goal is simple... good sound, navigation, and be able to play MP3's from a usd drive.
@ darrello ... once I have my mods picked, I'll keep the this thread updated with progress and pictures!
Our Sahara is built (Haza!) and on it's way for us to pick-up next Monday.
We'll probably live with the sound in the Jeep until it warms up a bit -> for the same reason why we bought a new Jeep and did not replace the headgasket on our 1995 Grand Prix GTP.... it's currently -20 here at home, and it was -27 last night! :-)

|darrello||thx @LrrrJeep - much appreciated - I'm a tad leery of messing up the audio but I've done it before (correctly). Depending on how busy things are I may go pro though.|

I picked my alpine HU at Futureshop in ottawa/gatineau (x303, it's a bit old now, but it was amazing at the time) so they do exist in Canada. Mine is only a usb HU but I added a BT mod to it to connect my phone and play music/gps/calls.
Some other things to think about when choosing a deck. Do you want to keep those existing steering wheel controls (volume control, input selection, etc) that you have? If so, make sure your new deck accepts a Steering wheel control interface (you'll also need a PAC harness and a pac swi-(jack) or other steering wheel adapter harness. Pretty easy to setup, just need to read the directions and solder a few wires. I bought both Pac kits from amazon.ca for 200$ ship included from a place in Concord (or somewhere around toronto)

|darrello||@LrrrJeep - let me know what you're thinking and where you're thinking of doing the work. I'm up in Ottawa and I'm planning on replacing the head unit at minimum (iPod connectivity is critical) and maybe more. I have a 2012 JKU with the Infinity speakers and the 130 head unit as well.|

I haven't seen an Alpine unit available in Canada. Saw the pioneer X930BT, but reviews say it's radio performance is lacking. Kenwood might be a way to go.
The main reason I want to replace the head-unit is to be able to play MP3's off a usb drive (as opposed to a disc). Another option would be to replace the infinity amp (if I could leave the stock speaker and wiring).

The head units in these JKs sees if an amp is present and adjusts outputs accordingly. And no, not all 130N units come with the Infinity system. It's just another option.

2012 Jeep Sahara Unlimited Sound System
I've ordered a new loaded 2012 Jeep Sahara Unlimited (begining of the month) but only put in the 130n head unit (no connectivity group). My intention is to replace the unit with something like the Sony XNV660BT or maybe a pioneer\kenwood unit. The question I have is, does the 130n head unit in the jeep (has the inifinity sound system with sub) power any of the speakers directly, or does it simply feed the infinity amp which then goes to the speakers.
I am trying to figure out if I need to be concerned with the power output of the replacement deck, or (if as I suspect) it doesn't matter.
