|66fordman||does anyone sell a kit to convert a yj from leaf to coil(front and rear) ?|

|Will George||I'm adding a 1.25 inch bL and getting 35s and a dana 44 with 488gears|

6-8" of lift. Flat fenders. 33" tires.
HOLY CRAP that would look ridiculous. Not to mention, your center of gravity would be high as hell...you'd need to do a long arm lift...and just OMG.
Dude...4" lift, normal fenders or flat fenders if you wanna lil extra clearance "just in case" and 33's would look good. Don't screw it up...

|03-07-2012 11:27 PM|
|Will George||i just cut my fenders to flats and saw it driving down the road (mom was driving lol) and it looks pretty tall actually, guess i was just used to the height and wanted to be bigger like everyone.|

I love my TJ but I'd consider leafing the rear and leaving the front as coil
just because its diffrent.
Sure i'd love a YJ but I like the airbags of the TJ for my children when they ride with me.Im not in a position to buy a YJ as a toy

|arcountryboy||Only thing I'm really curious about is why you think your 4" coils make the Jeep look stock? If you really have a 4" lift and it looks stock, you have some serious issues with your springs. Really serious issues.|

<-------- My TJ has front leafs and rear 4link and works awesome with that set-up.
If your confused don't worry, it's something different, you don't have to understand, that's the nice thing about Jeeps and making your own decisions.

|blue6tj||6-8 inch lift and your only gonna put on 33's, wow, well thats a good waste of $$$ and time. If your going for that size of lift, SYE, gears etc you might as well spend the extra $$$ and put on some 38-40's... I'm very confused!|

Swap Jeeps with the OP. Boom. Done and done.

|02-17-2012 02:36 PM|
|TJspeed||A Tj with 4" lift on 33"s looks nothing to stock.... Like said above listen to Jerry!!|
|02-17-2012 02:06 PM|
Liten to Jerry, he nailed it.
If you want leaves, converting a TJ would just be added difficulty and expense. Get a YJ or a CJ then lift it.

why should someone want to convert a TJ to leaf springs
My mechanic recently converted his Yj to coil springs. I donít know what lift he has but I am about 6 ft. and can barely look over the hood.

Back when I lived in CO, I recall a short fad back in 99-2000 or so where guys were leaf'in the rear of there TJs.... Think it had to do with stability and the negative effects of lifted short arm suspensions. (recall the lifting of the front wheel on turns?) Long arms and advances (such as Currie's Antirock) have addressed many of these issues.
I see no reason to leaf a TJ. Even stretches are pretty straight forward with the products available today and some welding skills.

|snwchris||I have front leafs on my TJ. It was easier doing leafs in the front for adding the stretch as well as swapping the D60 in also. I'm stretched front & rear. The front leafs so far have proven to be pretty stable IMO. At the time of fab and to get back wheeling it was easier to deal with. I've thought about linking the front, but the leafs still work great.|
