jiminma There is a TSB to fix the seals in the hard top. It's number 23-020-08 and dated June 20, 2008. It's 29 pages long so I can't post it here. Go back to your dealer and ask that they fix your top using the TSB.

I'm probably not alone in thinking that at least a few people would prefer a non-leaking vehicle for their money. I have read several "roof leaks" threads. I haven't seen anyone come up with a solid solution. From what I've read in my limited time here, there are a lot of "creative geniuses" out there in the JWF world. How about we take this one on?

Here's the deal. It leaks in 2 places:

1) It has leaked 3 times above the windshield in the middle, where the front tops sections meet. It leaks onto the flat spot on top of the dashboard...no more than 6-8 drops ever. It only seems to leak in the monrning after it's been parked with the front downhill slightly, after a rain. Melting snow has had no effect. 3 times in 5 months isn't all that bad, but still...what if it gets worse? The dealer says that the leak can be remedied (didn't explain how), but the fix causes wind noise. Yuck. Rather have a leak. Any suggestions?

2) The rear window seal leaks from the top seal, and drips down onto the window inside the vehicle, and the interior of the rear door panel. Not a big deal, but it does mix with fine road grit and makes a mess that Ive cleaned up twice with a paper towel and windex. Would silicone, or something else improve the seal withour causing other issues? Any ideas?
I don't have my Jeep yet (picking it up tomorrow) but I have been told by my brother inlaw who has a unlimited with freedom that you have to put the top on correctly which most people don't realize....when putting it back on you install the passenger side first, then the drivers side..

The drivers side top will sit on top of the passenger side overlapping and should seal if you have the updated gaskets.

Same with removal...remove drivers side first (not sure this matters but he said something about fucking up the overlap I'd ave to see it)

My dealer actually told me the same thing.

My Freedom top leaks

My Jeep Freedom top leaked above the rear view mirror. Water seems to be forced in during driving, then when I break it drips down onto the dash. I took it to the dealer 4 times and asked them to fix it. They removed the top and put it back on, and replaced the gaskets. Still leaks. When it leaked after the fourth fix, the service manager said that because of the design of the top they may always leak a little. Don't you wish the salesman told you that when they talked you into the option? I asked them to take the hard top back, give me a soft top, and refund the option price I paid. They refused. I wrote the Jeep regional office and registered my Jeep as a Lemon under the Mass Lemon law. Three days later they offered the swap. I now have a soft top and my money.
