True. Someone broke into my sisters vehicle and stole the change from the ashtray. She said was maybe $3-4 worth but the damage to her door handle and lock was over a hundred to fix.

I had someone steal just the face to the cd player to my jeep. Pretty annoying.

OP that sucks. I know that violated feeling. Had someone break into my house once. Thankfully no one was home but scared sh!t (literally) out of my dogs and stole my tv's, ps3, wii, laptop, games and DVDs. Also dumped my clothes drawer. Feeling of uncomfort sleeping there for awhile.

The Texas flag is really equal to US flag? Is that official, if so, why?

Edit*

Just Googled it and that's not correct: http://www.snopes.com/history/american/texasflag.asp

I think he was more making a joke about the "mean" streets of Alaska more than saying not to carry a gun. Not that there isn't crime, just that Alaska and crime are not commonly associated together by reputation.

The only down side is today's sue happy society. After several breaking at my shop (3 in 2 months) the police told us to "shot to kill". The chief was here going over our security ideas with us and was very serious.. It's also sad how horrible our judicial system is. We were able to catch 1 of the perps (our neighbor) and he barely got probation even though he has a record pages long of thefts and trying to write checks that he stole. Alarms are nice but just remember its only a deterrent!! The tuffy is a good idea but they might do damage to interior trying to get into it..

That's why you have to shoot them in the front, it looks as though they are coming at you, shooting in the back shows they were running away.

I totally agree but this will deffanatly lower my odds. I am only 200 in the hole installed. I usually keep my pistol in my glove box and that night I took it out(thank god). The tuffy box will get installed Thursday the alarm on Friday. Next week I am going to do the full tuffy console (Fort Knox of jeeps). I'll just build it better stronger slower!!

Pa is also open carry, if you are saying you can carry loaded (openly displayed) in your car..

Right on.. You don't have to paranoid to carry a gun. Just prepared. The 1 time you don't carry it is the 1 time you will need it.. There were 3 robberies last week in my small town. Furring on of them the mayor was robbed. You never know who is going to do what or when. All you can do is be ready.

Getting worse by the day, actually. I carry everyday because it's my right to do so. A gun is a lot easier to carry than a cop.
As you can see by other replies here, I'm far from being the only one who does it. If you want to trust your safety and your family's safety to law enforcement then good on ya. I'll make sure that if (when) they're not available, me and mine are taken care of.

Sorry to the OP, didn't mean to hijack.

LilYeller Here is the setup that I have.

Viper 5901 2way paging alarm
Dei 508d Radar (proximity) sensor
Dei 520T Backup battery (alarm sounds if someone cuts your battery cable) also doubles as a low battery warning, dont ask how I know this lmao.

I also added another siren inside the cab near the alarm itself so if someone thinks they are smart they will get a face full of siren, and those things are loud.

Noone gets close to my Jeep without me knowing about it.

Z-TJ Thanks everyone for your replys. I have a garage at my house but I work in a diff state so I have 2 residents the second is an apartment in DT Asheville Nc witch is not the best place to park an uncovered jeep. The alarm is just so I can hear if someone gets into my vehicle at the apartment. I did also buy the tuffy under seat storage.

Casotakar1229 install 2 of these when you get that new alarm system installed....

Mitchness Sorry for your loss. It's a pretty $#!++y feeling having someone violate your property like that. I've had my Jeep broken into three times. Every time I've had no more than a pack of gum in the Jeep, which was taken on the second time. Learned when I first got the Jeep to leave nothing of value in it. Learned after the first break in (where they slashed my windows to unlock the door) to leave it unlocked too. Sadly alarms don't deter thieves so much anymore.

MrHix ask for a field disturbance sensor, for dei product its called a 508d, its the best in the business. I used to be an installer, if you can swing it, go with 2 way paging remote and 508d, you can have your doors off and it'll detect movement inside the vehicle without touching anything. It has dual zones, interior for full trigger and exterior for warn away. dialed in correctly, someone can park next to you and it will never alert, once someone has broken that invisible perimeter, its warning or going off. great for Jeeps and nice wheels. If you have any questions pm me and i'll be happy to assist

So far I've been ok with leaving the top and doors off in the parking lot. Hopefully things continue as they are and of folks want to rummage through my stuff, at least they won't find anything but paperwork and a cell phone charger.

Charcoal2010 The best alarm system is a 12 gauge shot gun. Quaranteed!
