97 Jeep Wrangler headlight and flashers

I have a 97 Jeep Wrangler TJ. My headlights stopped working so I checked all the fuses and they are all good. Everything else works so I went on the internet and everything seemed to point to the headlight switch on the dash so I replaced that. Still no joy but I have noticed one other problem. The only thing that flashers when I put the flashers on is the left front. Everything else just stays on. Is there a connection between the two? I haven't taken the headlights out but someone said that the connectors could be a problem but both of them at the same time seems odd. Any ideas as to my next step? I don't have a meter so it is pretty much trial and error here.
