Xpress Make sure you didn't leave your flatheat screwdriver in the hinge

Thats not really an adjustment, they need to be tight, but ya you can loosen them nearly all the way to get the windshield closer to the roll bar. Biggest thing is to tighten everything slowly and evenly side to side so you don't crack the windshield. Like the other dude said use tie down straps or a couple friends to push it back. I did mine myself after replacing the gasket and I have to admit it made me nervous the whole time tighting it down. I was certain that I didn't bent the hinge thou. She folded down real easy. Guess I was lucky. My jeep was garage kept its entire life so that helps I'm sure.

My suggestion exactly. That is what I had to do after replacing my windshield gasket

spunebil I bent mine while folding it down ( didnt realize it untill after lol)
Bought new hinges but couldnt get bolts out !
So after breaking a couple of easy outs, I modified hinge to keep original door mount and welded them over existing hinges!
Now I wheel with windshield folded down!
Just oil hinges so they dont bind up again

1 of 2 problems

You either have a hinge that is binding or you have something under the windshield that is blocking. You need to determine which one before forcing things.

If it is the hinge binding, then you need to free it or you will bend it, or break the windshield. Freeing it means soaking it with penetrant and working it back and forth. I really doubt it is binding, otherwise it would have been very difficult to get down also.

If it is something underneath you need to free it. Check the weather stripping to be sure it isn't binding.

year1camaro Had the same problem after replacing the windshield gasket. Just try to catch the windshield bolts on 3 threads and gently with help from a couple friends push the windshield back evenly and catch the roll bar bolts. then pull it in evenly and slowly. My friend did his and bent the bracket. The hinge is for Sh*t so it actually looked like we cut it, but it tore half way through the hinge. I just ran a weld bead down where it became thin do to the bend. Good luck thou!

DILLIGAF Make sure the wiper motor wires are clear of being pinched!

How do the hinge's look are they sprung?

denisbaldwin What kind of shape are your dash brackets in? the ones that tie up to the windshield? If you can force a bolt into them, do so and draw the windshield back to the spreader bars. That's what I had to do after a new gasket install and it seems to work.

95YamJam Check the hinges to see if they bent. They bend pretty easy....

brentd711 Soak the hinges with PB blaster and work the windshield back and forth. You might have to do this several times over the course of a day (or week). When you get a little closer than 2" use a couple of bolts longer than the stock Torx and some washers and thread them through the bars into the frame and slowly (and evenly) pull the windshield back to where you can start a couple of the Torx.
