tarheel I purchased the no drill header with a top last summer. Was not bestop brand. Then I got the supertop setup and it came with the same header! The one I got last year was about $35 and the bestop was around $50 so I took a chance. When my supertop came I was now pleased to have a spare that was identical (there is no bestop emblem on the header I received).

world917 I just purchased the whole summer kit for a hard top 04 from best top, including the bikini, tonneau, wind jammer, and headliner bar. Everything installed quite easily and flawlessly. The price was great, quick shipping. But i did get caught in the rain with everything on and did get alittle wet. So i purchased the door surrounds for a soft top set up. Luckily i know a guy that works at a chrysler dealership, which saves me money. I did also purchase the neoprene seat covers and im going to herculine my tub this weekend so i will no longer worry about the rain

sean42069 i have a bestop safari top i purchased october last year:
i dont have door surrounds, it has flaps that wrap around to roll bar, though i dont have to remove the padding as Riptide63 does
yeah w/o the softtop door surround i get soaked, its fine going down the highway, but when you stop at a light all the water builds up, when you turn you get drenched.
this thing was a pita to put up before i figured out to pretension the center and rearmost straps before trying to install the strip into the header, i bet the first time i installed it myself i must have spend an hour walking back and fourth, now i can have it on myself in less than 5 minutes.
I still prefer topless, i got the safari so the wife/kid would come with me once in a while
gotta say not as "waterproof" as my old softtop

Riptide63 Oh, ok. That's the same one I've got. It clamps down using a pair of bolts rather than using the buckle/hook things that the OEM hard tops and soft top headers use. I was hoping you had found one that clamps down like the OEM stuff. It's not a big deal, it just requires a 1/2" socket or wrench to remove or install the header.

On my Safari, I have to remove the padding from the roll bars to use it without the surrounds. I can only assume that the Bikini would be the same.

Also, the first time I installed mine, it had me running from side to side cursing like a madman because the windshield channel wouldn't stay in the groove of the header. Every time I got one half of the windshield channel in the groove, the other side would fall out, causing the whole thing to fall through into the cab before I could get to the other side. This proved to be a very entertaining show for my neighbors. The trick... connect the center strap that loops around the rear of the roll bar so that it holds just enough rearward tension to retain the windshield channel in the groove, then you can strap the rest of it down.

ct-tj Ive got both safari and bikini tops from bestop. I suggest trying to find a set of door surrounds, it keeps the top tight and I lost my bikini on the highway once without them. The sound bar is sort of waterproof, the safari top covers it. Do me a favor, when you rotate back flip off Manas for me. Hope I helped.

Click on this link, it's the quick detach header I'm looking at getting with the Bestop Bikini Top......

It's the header that's required for this's Bestop's way of getting you by the short and curlies...

Riptide63 My Safari top is set up for both ways... with or without the door surrounds. It has velcro and straps that hold it to the roll bar without the surrounds, as well as having the channel thingamabobbers that go into the surrounds if you're using them. You will get a little more wet using the roll bar method, though. The only thing I can complain about with the Bestop Safari is the straps are really short. I've got maybe a half inch left to pull it tight by once I get it fed through the buckle.

lap49X Is the quick detach header the one that comes with the stock soft-top?

activelydying I run a Safari top and love it. As soon as it starts to get somewhat warm the hardtop gets removed and stored in the garage. As far as leaks with mine, I do get water inside from the gap between the door and the rollbar. No biggie though.

98TJSahara Soundbar Def. somewhat waterproof. I've been poured on MANY times and had no problems. As for bikini tops I don't know. I have an original hard top/full hard door setup. And a full summer soft top set up with a full header and those plastic window header/borders that everything tucks in nicely and is water tight. There was another thread about two weeks ago that is Titled- "My Bikini is leaving me Wet", where one guy did say that bikinis are notorious for leaks, but I can't imagine BEstop would make something that leaks.

That's a good question. I assume they're somewhat waterproof, but we all know what happens when we assume.

Just kidding, but really......would be nice to hear from someone about these questions. Where's Debruins when you need him? He's always chiming in on these discussions.........

It's bikini time again

Here's my question. I'm looking at getting a Bestop Header Bikini and I need to know if anyone has any experience with this top. I know a ton of you out there have bikinis and I'm just needing some information. First, since it's a Bestop, I know it's probably well made, but has anyone had any problems with theirs? Also, I have a hardtop on my Jeep. No problem, I'm buying the windshield quick detach header. HOWEVER.....all the pics I see of this top have the soft top door surrounds still installed. Obviously, I don't have the door surrounds since my Jeep doesn't have a soft top. Ultimately my question is this................WILL THIS BIKINI WORK ON MY JEEP? It looks like the straps are pretty adjustable, like it'll work, but I just wanted to ask you all.

Oh, here's a link to the one I'm looking at...........
