poke around the underside, look around the gas tank, if its a 2.5l drive it like your stealin it for about 20 miniutes or so to see if the syncros are any good!!!!!! down shift alot too!
look on the frame for patches and dents, check the engine bay if its really clean, could be the owner is trying to cover up any leaks ( they all leak so if there isn't any oil leaken...be weary) . have fun and don't let the excitment make your decision shop around for the better deal, you will undoubtedly save money time and trouble.

Rusty windshield frame is an easy replacement and a common issue on northern YJ's. Pay more attention to the floorpans and frame. Post your YJ question in the YJ forum to get more info on the better options to look for when searching.

Hey, welcome to our house...
Don't mind the levity and abuse you may recieve at our hands. We are really a friendly bunch. And some on the forum actually know what they are talking about with Jeeps!!!
My advice is to be very deligent in your search. Make up your mind what you want and go out there and find it. I don't know how mechanically inclined you are, but the advice I always give, is that an hour of a good mechanic's time going over your prospective rig, is money well spent!
