How this forum helped me beat the system

Hi there

I just want to give a shout out to a fellow wranglerforum member K9LYFGRD, who posted a link to a site in the canada forum that would unknowingly save me a lot of time and money!

I recently got pulled over because I was kicking dirt up into a following cops windshield lol. Since my tires were 1”, yes 1” outside the wheel well, he gave me a ticket under law 66.3 of highway traffic act, although might be a different number in the states, I dunno. (Check picture on my jeep profile, I couldn’t believe he actually gave me the ticket)

The site of4wd.com, puts the Highway Traffic Act in plain English:
66.3:
Every motor vehicle and every trailer shall be equipped with mudguards or fenders or other device adequate to reduce effectively the wheel spray or splash of water from the roadway to the rear thereof, unless adequate protection is afforded by the body of the motor vehicle or trailer or by a trailer drawn by the motor vehicle.

The site stated that, “So you could argue that anything that “effectively reduces” the spray should be legal”

I was never so joyous in my life. Took it to court, and said that my stock fenders adequately, yet not fully reduced spray. The cop in court look stunned at my attention to detail, and my ticket was dropped, no harm done
Also, if that card doesn’t work, you could claim 66.4 exception. Which states that
You don’t need mud flaps and/or your fenders don’t have to cover your tires if you’re vehicle is “unfinished” and you’re on your way to someplace to finish it.
My goal is that someone who is in the same boat as me will read this and beat the system, as stated by the court judge that as long as spray is reduced 50% it is considered adequate…

I’ve been a member of the forum for 3 days and my timing counldn't have been better. I’ve already saved money on the ticket, and didn’t even need to hire a lawyer. I'm happy i joined.

Happy mudding boys
