Same here. My usual order of operation is as follows:

1) install no-drill header
2) lay bikini over the vehicle
3) tuck both plastic side pieces into the door surrounds
4) tuck forward plastic lip into header channel
5) slide both side pieces (from #3) completely rearward in the door surrounds
6) route all nylon straps around roll bar and tighten

Glad to hear everything worked out for you.

ActionFigure73 Thank you so much for the Butter Knife suggestion, it worked like a charm.
I did have to reverse the instructions as far as putting the actual Bikini Top on, I could not get the Top to stay in the Header Channel when I was trying it first.

It takes a little effort the first time you install the bikini. It might help you to first wedge something in between there (a butter knife, or something else thin, sturdy and not sharp) to kinda open up a gap, then gently feed the nylon strap through this opening. It may also help to slightly wiggle the nylon strap side to side while you do so. Once the strap pokes through, grab it from underneath and tug it the rest of the way.

Good news: if you leave the bikini installed for an extended period (such as all summer long), the roll bar padding will kinda mold into shape. This will make it much easier the next time you install the bikini.

Keep practicing! You do have to fold it down properly, but once you do so the duster cover will go right on as designed. I've managed to install these type of duster covers on all five of my TJs over the years, so I know it isn't a one-vehicle fluke.

ActionFigure73 I figured it out, after doing some "Googleing" on different ways to drop the top.
So here it is, top folded and Deck Cover on.

Thanks for the help.

Wesboy Yep 2 types.

The type you want will have a slight bulge at the back when installed (near the rearmost rollbar), also a slight gap at the B-pillar rollbar where the folded down soft-top bows would be.

This is the type I've got and I've NEVER been able to fold the soft-top up neatly enough to fit under the duster.
I'm sure it CAN be done but it's a whole lot easier (for me, at least) to just take the soft-top off completely.

NewYJOwner They make 2 diffrent dusters (deck covers) one works with the soft top frame folded down, and one with the soft top frame removed from the vehicle. Verify which one you have.

InfernoGirl I think the top has to be removed for a deck/tonneau cover to be installed.

Folding the Top Down to put on a Deck Cover.

Good morning,
I've been a proud owner of a Jeep Wrangler and I'm brand new to the forums as of today.
Now that the weather is starting to warm up I'm investing in some "Summer" options for my soft top.
I just recently purchased a Bestop Deck Cover from an individual who just moved away and I was wondering if it's possible to have it on while the Soft Top is folded down opposed to completely removed?
I think I've found the item on Quadratec's site, but I've never got my top to fold that neat.
Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched and came up with nothing.
Thanks for any help or points in the right direction.
