|Jerry Bransford||There is a lever on the driver's side of the transfer case that the missing shifter mechanism connects to. If your driveshaft is installed, you can always use a pair of pliers to move that lever to its second position, one notch away from where it is now, to see if 4Hi works. The 3rd position is Neutral and the 4th position is 4Lo. Don't drive it in 4Hi on paved roads for an extended period of time though, shift it back to 2wd where it was once you've tested it.|

|Jerry Bransford||The mechanism linking the shift lever to the transfer case is commonly sold with the shift lever as an assembly. You should be able to find a used one on ebay. Look for '231 shift mechanism' or something like that. 231 because the transfer case used in your TJ is a model 231.|

There is a linkage mechanism that connects the shift lever to the transfer case, as below.
Also, I could barely see anything in that photo. Make sure to use a flash or shine a bright light at the subject when taking photos before you post more photos in the future.

So when i bought my jeep the stupid po had blew out the 4x4 shaft. so in attempt to restore the 4x4 ive bought a new shaft, and im not sure what else i need... The 4x4 shift handle just connects to nothing, and im sure magic dosent make the 4x4 work so what else do i need?
