4Jeepn Based on a few things I am looking at, and not knowing what jeep did with export models... here in the states the newest that Jeep would be is a 1991 model.. this based on the roll bar not being the family style, which showed up in 1992. In addition, it appears there is an AC compressor on the jeep but not AC in the dash...

jayson85 Yeah $18,000 is way to much stay away from that deal it's a rip off I bought a 2000 jeep wrangler sport with a 4 inch lift on 35's with front and back lockers for $9500

05RockyMountainTJ i paid $13,900 for my 05 with 72,000 miles on it. look around you will find a much better deal than that. You could almost buy a new base model for that much

hambubba YJs have leaf springs. If you go '97 and up you get a much better ride.

rasamur Well I had my doubt about how the car was, so the vendor brought it to my house to check it but the Pic are new and it is showing the status of the car, the interior, motor and soft top are in great shape. The only thing weird is the suspension, I was in the car on the passenger side and it was a pretty bumpy ride, it was like it didn't had much suspension.

hambubba Are you sure those aren't new pics? As in when it was new? Unreal. And too much.

Arch Stanton That's too much money! If you can't find a reasonably priced Jeep, you're better off looking for a Nissan Patrol, Toyota Landcruiser, or a Mitsubishi Dakar. I saw quite a few of those vehicles during my travels in South America, but I don't recall seeing many Jeeps. Good luck and remember caveat emptor!

rasamur Thank you, that was one of my confusions if it was a YJ or a TJ. Right now I talked to the owner about the Car and agreed to go to a Insurance Shop, basically they do several interior and external test. Some of them include motor performance and parts that trend to damage thru out the life cycle of the Jeep (I.e Suspension). The car came from Canada from the import papers the person has. Regarding the price, that is something that depends on the results if the test, because you are right, checking the forum there are some that had purchase one in a range of 7000 to 9000 US, than including a import rate it can go up as much as 11000 or 12000. Going back to the leaf suspension, do you have any recommended one that I can look thru in a link? And also a good brand?

Note: from the images how those it look?. Appreciate all your replys.

TJspeed To add there is no 96 wrangler.

Jerry Bransford As said above, that model Wrangler you are asking about is Wrangler YJ which has a leaf spring suspension, not a Wrangler TJ which has the much improved and better riding coil spring suspension. I'd hold out for a 1997 or newer Wrangler TJ that has the coil spring suspension. The coil spring suspension equipped Wrangler TJ handles, rides, and offroads much better than the Wrangler YJ you are asking about does.

Shelby427 A bit expensive is an understatement. $18000.00 for a 96 YJ!!!

Something else, if you are not used to a Jeep, do not expect it to ever ride like a car.
Two totally different animals and what they were designed for.

30-284 Incase it makes any difference, that is a YJ which was made from 86 to 95, TJ's started at 97. The YJ maybe rougher riding than a TJ as it has leaf spring suspension as compaired to the TJ's coil spring suspension.

Sahara TJ Suspension

Hi!

Currently I'm in the way of buying a used 96 Sahara TJ Wrangler. Since I'm not so familiar with the car I asked a relative from my family to drive the car and test it. The car from what he tells me is on good shape the only thing that he did mentioned is that the suspension is a little bit hard ( I was in the car and it did felt a little bit rough and bompy). In case it was needed to change it, Do you know a possible replacement? And recommend a good brand?, also, do think is worth to buy if the car comes with this problem?

Wrangler 96
Millage: 30.000 km
Model: Sahara
Interior: Great Shape
Pics: http://articulo.tucarro.com.co/MCO-2...ahara-1996-_JM

The page is in Spanish but the pics are in that page. The current price in dollars it's 18.000 that

Advice will be very appreciated !

Note: Here a Jeep is a bit expensive do to the import cost that Jeep (Brand) has in my country.
