I do believe there is a SLIGHT change of location for the roof clamps. Either that or the size of the hole for the clamps to attach is a bit different. Other than that, they should fit fine. Same hinges, size, etc. The newer ones do have the plastic.
I'd check any local salvage yards (may not be an option in Europe tho). I found one for my 97 TJ at a local yard that happened to be the same year and SAME COLOR! I got lucky.

X2 no difference other than the plastic, and if he has an aftermarket cage on his rig this is no concern.
How bad did he destroy the frame? You might be better off getting the frame from the US and the glass from somewhere close.

|Jerry Bransford||Other than the added plastic, I doubt there's any difference.|

|jeepcop1||As far as the frames go I've had a lot of luck rumaging in junk yards but you have to VERY carefully look at what you are getting. As far as the difference between the two OEM parts I couldn't begin to tell you. For the windshield, I found a shop in Harrisonburg, VA, USA. that does them for about $150 but that's obviously not a very good option for you unless you feel like a jump over the big puddle! Probably more cost efficient if you can find a good bargain at an auto glass place close to you.|

Windshield Frame Difference ?
A buddy destroyed his windshield frame on his 2004 Rubicon last weekend.
Jeep has two different part numbers. One for TJs from 97-02 and one for TJs from 03-06.
What´s the difference? IMO the only difference should be the plastic channel at the 03-06 TJs. Or is there another difference?
What's the cheapest place to buy a replacement windshield frame and the windshield glass?
Thnaks for your help.
