InvertChaos It's a pulley so it doubles the line pull at the sacrifice of speed. Just a simple machine.

00tj2 Its used to protect the people in the area incase there is a failure in the line or a hook.... It helps dampen the stored energy in the cable....

Renaissance_Redneck With enough snatch blocks in a system, you could pull out any stuck rig by hand! But, it would be real sloooooooooooow!

willee51 When you purchase one, be sure its a quality part Also, protect your winch cable, in case it fails

Pls school me on snatch blocks

So is there a good article anyone knows of on the usage & how they work?
I read they increase the amount a winch can pull,but how?
Now suppose I was really stuck.I could pull the cable from my winch,attach the snatch block to a tree in front of me then back to my Jeep. What about if someone else was really stuck? How would I go about that situation?
