I just got a new Wrangler, and having the same issues with the iPhone and Media Center 130. The frustrating part is that I use Navigon - and sometimes do not want music in the background.
I haven't solved the problem, but found a work around: I made an mp3 with 1-1/2 hours of nothing. When I don't want music, but audio from an iPhone app, I simply play this "song".
I uploaded the "song" here. Since the forum doesn't permit music files, I renamed it to .pdf (hopefully this will work). Download the file and rename it to AAAA.m4a before dropping it into iTunes
I named the song "AAAA" so that it shows up at the top of the song lists, making it easier to find. You can, of course, change the tag info in iTunes and call it whatever you like.

I'm looking into borrowing the new EVO LTE next week to test this issue. I'll let you know what I find out.

Yep...that's good advice. Make sure that your phone isn't already connected to another bluetooth device (that's what this sounds like...I hope that's all it is). Also, with some phones, the order in which things connect is important...so you'd want clear your phone entirely, sync with UConnect, later sync with bluetooth headphones, etc. Generally this isn't a problem with newer devices, though, I think.
Still, I'm having issues with my original post. I was messing with it again today to no avail grrrr

what phone do you have? When you say "a regular bluetooth while walking", are you referring to a BT earbud? I have noticed that some phones don't like to be connected to an ear bud and then getting into the vehicle without turning it off first. I twill try to connect to 2 different devices, Uconnect will see that the phone is already connected to another device and give up trying to connect to the phone. Uconnect fiqures "hey, you're still connected so you must not want me to work".
I would do 3 things: (first reboot the phone, if it's a non Apple phone, remove the battery for about 5 minutes then reinsert it, if it's an Apple phone, hold down the power and home buttons for about 12 - 15 seconds until the white apple appears then release them and the phone will reboot)
1) reset Uconnect, this is done by pressing the VR button and saying "set up, reset". You'll be told that this will delete all paired devices, do you want to continue "yes".
2) then make sure that Uconnect is deleted from the phone.
3) turn the key off, open & close the drivers door, wait a few minutes and start a new pairing session.
Hope this helps.
PS: after this, when you do use the ear bud, power it up outside the vehicle and turn it off upon entering the vehicle.

|YoteDogGirl||I connected my phone and have used it for several months. However after briefly using a regular blue tooth on walks...now the uconnect said they are paired, but "phone not available"....wont seem to discover it. I have cleared the pairing and repaird the phone and still wont work. Also have removed the other blue tooth from phone entirely. Any ideas?|

There have been times where I've been in the auto (parked) and wanted to share a youtube vid with a friend. I turn on the phone, switch to bluetooth, and before I can get launch youtube, my phone's mp3s begin playing. They will continue to play overtop anything I'm seeing on yourtube. Additionally, if I stop youtube, go back to the music player menu and hit stop, the mp3 restarts in just a few seconds which is less time than it takes to get back to my youtube.
Also, sometimes I use the police scanner app in the car (legal?? debatable). If I have mp3s on my phone, they play overtop of the police scanner audio and I can't turn it off without it restarting again. Once again, the only solution I'd found is to simply not let my phone carry mp3s (which is kinda sad as this is what it is designed to do). I tested my phone on a friend's ford today and it did not have this issue...and it didn't have this issue on my 2010 Chevy -- it's only the Jeep.
Also, and I hinted at this before, there are some other bugs I'm seeing but have not yet isolated to the point that I can describe them clearly. However, there appears to be some issues with the phone hearing various voice commands directly into the phone if it is also connected to bluetooth. For example, I can't hit the google search button and say "navagate to 23rd street." The phone simply does not hear my voice most of the time. I can't do this kind of command through uconnect either, of course.
It's very frustrating as it kinda defeats the purpose of speech recognition.

|j.luis||I have the same problem. I press the the AM/FM or SAT button and them I press the bluetooth button back on.. I have noticed that sometimes the music on the iPhone does not come back on or delays it a little longer.|

In my 12' JK, my Blackberry 9650 does not auto start my MP3's when Uconnected via Bluetooth. MP3 plays fine.
Not the best audio quality as compared to USB though.
I have the 130 radio with Sat and Uconnect.
Build Date 9/11

Mr.FGish, Ca nyou please explain how this is happening. Is when you have BT turned on the phone, get into the vehicle, turn the key on and when the phone pairs up, your media starts playing?
Is you phone stock with no other mods?
I am asking because I personally have the 4S and the 4, both are ATT and I don't have this issue. Oh, I have a 2011 vehicle but I also have both year radios that I swap out when I need to help someone. Thanks for your help.

This because the media button is what tells the phone to go into he A2DP mode, the phone has to be told that the operator wants this to happen and the navigation audio is run thru streaming audio. It's like that on all the phones that I have used.

I have tried two generations of the Evo (my old version, the EVO 4g which came out a couple of years ago) and the newer EVO 4g lte which was just launched. I wouldn't be surprised if their programming was the same.
I have also noticed a few other eccentricities, but haven't nailed down the patterns yet. This one is just one that has bugged me ever since I owned the Jeep. As I mentioned, this wasn't a problem on my former car.
So this issue is happening with 2012's jeeps with both iPhone and EVO (android)? hmmm It would be interesting to see if newer Jeeps (maybe even the 2013s) have a similar issue. I'll see if I can't pair up with some friend's phones.
Again, this kinda sucks as I'd like to just carry my mp3s on my phone (lots of storage) rather than on my iPod nano via usb. Fewer devices doing the same thing is better than a bunch of gadgets
Do they ever issue programming updates for the Jeeps? I know I had 2-3 for my Camaro.
Thanks for the replies!

|Mr. Fish||The same has always happened with my iPhone 4S and Aug-built 2012 JKU. I switched to USB to avoid the issue.|

It could be compatibility issue with the Uconnect and some phones, as sometimes they have incompatible bluettooh implementation on some profiles.
I have no problem with my Nokia N9. The only thing I don't like is I have to manually change the BT (Aux) to hear the gps navigation voice instruction from the phone, rather than it can automatically cut off the radio or music I'm playing from USB when the voice navigation speaks.

Hmm, Interesting. I have seen that before but has always been a phone issue. (at least with the ones that I had seen the issue with). Uconnect doesn't support "hold" from the phone, only from the radio.
Do you know the build date of your Jeep? It should be on a sticker located on the drivers door. Look for code "MHD".

2012 Rubicon here with the RES 130 basic stereo system....
I have an annoying "autoplay" problem. When I connect my phone to Uconnect and switch over to bluetooth, my phone immediately begins playing any mp3 files it contains. Of course, this doesn't happen if I'm on a call. However, if I want to do other things with my phone (such as voice navigation, streaming police scanner, YouTube, Pandora, whatever), any mp3s will begin playing and will continue to play over top of any other audio. When I hit pause on the music player for my phone, it sits quietly for about 5 seconds and then begins to play again -- apparently UConnect is sending the play command over and over which is why pause doesn't seem to work correctly.
When I first got my Jeep, I had the older HTC EVO 4g from Sprint. I figured it this issue was probably an HTC bug and that a newer version of the phone would resolve this issue. Now I have that newer version (HTC EVO 4g lte) and the issue persists.
To summarize, it appears that UConnect continues sending "play" to my mobile phone and it begins automatically playing any mp3 I have....even after I hit pause or stop.
The only solution I've found (and I hate it) is that I can't keep mp3s on my phone. Rather, if I want audio, I have to either store my music on a cloud service (google mp3, amazon mp3, google drive, dropbox, etc.) and stream it or play from my ipod via usb.
When I had the 2010 Camaro, I streamed mp3s from my phone all the time without any issue at all...so I figure it is indeed a Jeep/UConnect issue.
Is there an update to Uconnect? Has anyone else had this issue?
