I had not checked the brake fluid level since buying the rig 3 months ago. I filled it up last week when the dummy light came on and it is still at the full level 100 miles later. There is no noticeable leak around the brake cylinders or master cylinder. Probably a good idea just to take it to get the system power vac'd.
Jerry, you were dead on with the ABS light! Cleaned all sensors and the light is no longer coming on!! Thanks!
Thanks again for the help guys, it REALLY is appreciated!

|Triple88a||how often do you have to fill it? Look underneath your rig at the rims, do you see any fluid on the inside of the rim?|

First, the brake fluid is low for a reason, perhaps you have a leaky brake cylinder so I would remove the rear wheels and brake drums to see if you have a leak there. I kind of doubt the possible leak is up front. And since your '97 is as old as it is (I have a '97 myself) it may be time to have your brake lines power vacuumed by a brake shop and refill the system new brake (not break) fluid.
For the ABS light, that can often light from road tar or other junk coating the ABS sensors which are found on each brake assembly. It happened to me twice but a rag & WD-40 cleaned the sensor off & the ABS light cleared. The ABS sensors are easy to find, they are the only item on each brake assembly that have a wire going to them. They sit over the top of something that looks like a gear with teeth on it which is what generates the pulses via the ABS sensor to tell the ABS system what is going on.

Brake dummy lights
My break light on the dash came on the other day so I checked the reservoir and noticed it was low. I topped it off but the dummy light is still on.
Also when I start driving the jeep the ABS light comes on as well. It has done that since I bought the jeep 3 months ago.
The breaks feel fine, Not soft or spongy like there is air in the line. They are not grinding or squeeling.
Any ideas? The dealer wants 90 bucks just to look at it.
THANKS! in advance!
