Rewire of 91 YJ center gauges to 92?

Has anybody attempted to re-wire a new 92 gauge cluster to the old 91 gauge cluster (the center ones)? My stock one's needles have mostly fallen off and the fuel gauge doesn't work. I have a 92 that is in great shape, but the conector on the back is different. The 92 was a 2.5 manual and mine is a 4.0 auto (not sure if this matters). Can this be done? Thanks Steph!
