Brianjk18 Sign me up for a diesel in my jeep!!! Nothing better for idling down the trail sipping fuel with gobs of torque when you need it. Yes the 07 6.7 cummins sucked, tis why I have an 06... 6.7 was brand new, loys of epa crap and they grenaded turbos. Id like a nice 4.0 ltr inline 6 mercedes turbo diesel in my jku!

HK_Runner I would never want the hassle and reliability issues of a diesel engine. Yeah, they last a while but they make expensive trips to the shop. If I pulled something really heavy, I may get a diesel truck. A Jeep- you could not sell me one with a diesel engine. I have friends with diesel VWs and diesel trucks and when they hit the shop, they are insanely expensive.

Dale_K I had a brand new 2007 Dodge Ram with the 6.7 Cummins. When Chrysler bought it back I had service tickets for 14 check engine lights, which included one turbo replacement, not to mention 2 different services for emission recalls. I give Chrysler credit because they allowed me to replace the Ram with another vehicle with a similar MSRP but it soured me on diesels. Plus the increased mileage is wasted in the sense that diesel costs so much more per gallon that there's no economic justfication.

A diesel might make sense if you're towing a big load but not for light duty applications. If the price of diesel and gas was the same I might reconsider.
