Wintz50 I got it off, I just wasnt using enough force before and used a rag and channel locks to pull it off.

jpdocdave there's a weird shaped nut you have to loosen up, special socket fits it, but you can usually just tap on a screw driver or punch to loosen it.

brake rotor removal problem

I just started fooling around with jeeps and have a problem with removing the break rotor on a 1980 cj-5. We took the lock in/ lock out cap off and came to this gear, we removed the snap rring on the end of the shaft and thought we could just pull it off but cant. The spindle axle/splined shaft moves about 1/16 end play but the gear wont slide off. any ideas on how to get it off?

here is the pic

thanks in advance
