Who replaced the clutch?
I didnt tighten my pressure plate correctly and had the same problem.
But I would suspect the line bleed first, especially if the system was opened for some reason.

yeah, the new slaves come pre-bled as a 1 piece unit with the master cylinder.
If yours is a bleedable unit, there is a bleeder screw in the slave just in front of where the line hooks to it. looks just like the bleeder on your brakes with a nipple on the end of it. if no bleeder, you get to spend the 250 bucks to get a new master and slave combo, but that is where your problem is....air in the system.
sometimes you can cheat by reverse bleeding the unit...make sure the master is full, take the slave out of the bell housing, and compress the rod as far as it will go, wait a few minutes, and pull the rod slowly back out. then repeat as many times as it takes till you dont see anymore air bubbles coming up into the master cylinder cup.

|bassassassin||it's the 2.5L, everywhere that i've looked on these forums theres nothing about how to bleed it, they say you have to buy the entire new cylinder for it. Cause it comes pre-bled or something of that manner. Not to sure, but if you know how? I'd surely enjoy you explaining it, thanks.|

|kik||If you're serious with this post, why didn't you bleed the clutch? That's the problem. Too much air in the lines.|

1st 2nd and 3rd gear grind, grind in downshift?
i have a 94 wrangler 4x4 and when i shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, it grinds. i cannot downshift into 1 2 or 3, what is wrong? do i need synchros or a new slave cylinder, clutch was changed 2 weeks ago without the clutch being bled
