Tillamook State Forest - Bates Road #24 - Improvements and Enhancements

The SW Washington and NW Oregon Group met with the Tillamook State Forest land manager regarding possible improvements and enhancements to #24 Bates Road. We are thinking about submitting a proposal for filters, log crawl, rock crawl to name a few. This will not happen overnight it will be an ongoing process, probably one project at a time. It could happen next year or it can take several years from now depending on resources that are available to us. Anything we as a group can do to the trail will help the process go sooner than later. We do not have the money to rent equipment or pay for fuel. The land manager has to balance his budget and projects for the whole forest and his network of trails that he manages. What we are asking is there anyone who has equipment to move dirt/rocks/logs and or haul dirt and or rocks that can be donated for use? Is there someone that may know someone who may be able to donate equipment? Is there a rental company that we can talk into donating equipment? Do we know of a construction company that might like to be involved? Maybe this is too big of a project? For ideas go drive “#123 Truck Dent and #37 Stick in the Nose”, these trails have many features that we can do for Bates Road Trail and keep it to black diamond. Let us hear your ideas you may have and suggestions. YES, we will need your support for this to work.
