2five22 Assuming that Mesa is your primary residence, yeah, you'll have to have a catalytic converter and working EGR to get it registered and street legal in Maricopa or Pima counties.

Since someone gutted some or all of the emissions system for whatever reason, I'd talk to a certified auto tech and see exactly what it is going to take to get your Jeep into compliance for its inspection.

87SURVIVOR Yes is a carb. It has a different webber carb with no hookups. I have most of the emissions stuff and i guess need a new carb (back to factory carb) that will hook up. also air tubes cut off. Will need a new CAT and exhaust pipe??? Alot of work. Was hoping to make it easier.......

2five22 The cheapest and easiest method is to return it to stock. To the best of my recall, the 1987 258ci engine only came carbureted. Is your Wrangler injected?

Stock carb or fuel injection???

We have a 87 with 4.2 258 automatic and need to pass emissions. Carb on their wont do it and some emissions stuff removed. Bought it that way, long story...should we try to put back together stock or go with the fuel injection????
