|ChrisTX||You didn't really do anything by adding what you did. Even a 1/4" piece of steel strip is flexible. If you reinforce it, the best way would be to add angle iron on top so it doesn't have any flex, and even then, the weak stock skid plate will just bend at the next weakest point.|

Some weeks ago I enforced the TC plate with 1/4" metal stripes (red on the pic):
Last weekend it bent a bit again. And the Wanr tranny skid bent much more:
How can I enforce these skids again?

i changed the axle fluids about 3 weeks ago. theyīre ok. but īll check the axe fluid next week. i only use cheap valvoline 80w-90 diff oil because i change it all 4-45 months.
do you really think itīs time to change the TC fluid only after 12k miles?
what kind of fluid do i need? do i have to buy the expensive mopar oil or is there something cheaper? how much oil do i need for the TC?
or could i wait some months till x-mas (about 1000 miles)? then i want to install a SYE and CV driveshaft and while doing that i wanted to change the TC fluid.
how much auto tranny oil do I need for my 42RLE tranny? are the 5 liters I have enough? I think 3.5-4 liters should be enough...but iīm not sure.

Does it make sense to change the TC fluid at the same time? My TJ is only 12.000 miles young...

I just got a mail from a friend who will cut me 3 3/8" pieces that heīll weld under my TC plate (red in the pic) and 3 1/4" pieces that heīll weld to the upper side (green in the pic).
I hope that will be strong enough.

for the 42RLE there is no gasket available. only the mopar silicon esealant on the pic below. the FSM also says that i have to use this.

|1BLKJP||Nicolas, I will caution you not to use any kind of silicone on your tranny pan. You do not want any of that stuff getting inside your tranny. If you have to re-seal it just take it off and put a new gasket on there.|

my transfercase skid has bent pretty bad I have bent it out a couple of times
I allways have to remove it and use another car to drive over it bent back
once you get it bent back into shape you can take a sheet of 3/16 steel
and weld it to the bottom of the skid

|ChrisTX||Take the skid plate off, beat it back into shape with a hammer, then replace the gasket on the tranny pan. Or is the tranny pan bent? I've done trail repairs with guys on those factory skid plates. If they get bent good enough where the transmission mount is, it throws the drive line out of whack, and you have no choice, but to take it off right then and there, and beat it back into shape.|

i have to use the stock TC plate until next spring. then iīll install a 33 engineering skidplate with a SYE and CV driveshaft. now I donīt have the money to buy some new parts, I just ordered parts for about 2.5k $.
thatīs why i want to repair and reinforce it.

|Rawkon||i say find an aftermarket heavy duty one. bending back the stock skid and adding reinforcement will help but she will still be a shovel and weak.|

Stock TC Plate Is Bent..
today i noticed that i have a new ATF leak.
When i looked under my TJ i saw that he stock TC plate is bent in the front and that bent TC plate pushes the Warn oil pan skid plate against the auto tranny oil pan. That causes the leak.
Itīs not a big leak, only a few drops over the night. But i want to fix that.
How can I enforce the TC plate? Is it enough to weld a piece of steel in the front where it is bent? How would you fix that?
Do you think itīs enough to seal up the auto tranny oil pan with some new silcon sealant? Or is the oil pan also bent? I would make an ATF and ATF filter change at the same time.
