|Irongrave||its an odd size and most tires are in load range E (looking for my truck recently) personally i would never put an E range tire on a Jeep way to stiff stick the Ds and a little smaller size it will be better both on and off road|

I was looking into that same size too. There are a few All-terrains at that size. Hankook ATM and Nitto Terras are available in 295/70/R17. I figured that size would look a little better with a 2.5 lift without having to make the leap to 35s. I'm afraid the 285/70/R17 would be more suited for a leveling kit and I would like a tad more aggressive look.

Get these in 285 or 315
They are light, quiet and look much more aggressive in real life

|damndirtydog||Stick to a 285/70/17 in an all terrain. They'll be lighter than a M/T and ride smoother on the road.|

Thats a interesting size. I don't know how manny tires are out there in that size. My guess is not manny. I have seen the falken wild peak AT's and Cooper STT's come in that size but nothing else. The Coopers in that size are D rated and the Falkens are E.
E rated tires are best suited for full size trucks however that doesn't always stop someone with a lighter vehcile from getting a E rated tire. In fact the stock tires used on the TJ/LJ Rubicons were Load Range E.
What tire were you looking at for that size? The weight of a tire takes into account both size and how much material is used to make the tire.

I'm getting ready to put a lift kit or a leveling kit on my JK. I want to put 295/70 R 17 tires on my jeep, but I found that all of the tires that size are really heavy. I'm not planning on doing much off roading, maybe some light trail use. Should I be concerned about the weight of the tires?
I think most of the tires in that size are E rated tire. Isn't that for seriously heavy trucks?
