Videopelli Just to tie up this thread... I found out my ProComp shocks were absolutely shot and banging around - that was the noise I heard. Replace the rear with Bilstein 5100's and the ride is 100% better.

Most all stabilizers are the same 50/50 design. Unless yours is shot and leaking it should be fine. I have the same on mine and it rides fine for me.

Check and make sure your rear trackbar and swaybar is tight. the tub should never feel like it's going to slide off the frame. It could be blown shocks though.

rda616 At a closer look this looks to be the 2.5" kit they offer. I would just swap in some stock lower control arms and replace the shocks with something like a 5100 bilstein, or old man emu. You could add a 1" body lift and a 1" motor mount lift to get rid of that case drop.

BLK00TJ I agree that you will want to look into replacing the CAs if you wheel it. Savvy, Currie, Rokmen, and Clayton are all top notch brands with JJs that will allow the axle to articulate without putting unnecessary stress on your mounts and bushings. Even stockers are better than what is on there now. At least they can twist. If you don't wheel, there's not much point unless the bushings are already shot.

As far as the rest of the components, I'd hit that in stages unless you have the cash to do it all. If you are okay with the ride quality now just wheel the heck out of it and have fun. Break, upgrade, repeat.

My order of changing it out would be:
  1. Control arms
  2. TC drop removal/SYE CV driveshaft install
  3. Shocks (unless you are happy with the ride quality)
  4. Springs

rda616 The shocks are pro comp 3000 series which are crap. The skyjacker control arms are also problematic and can actually damage your mounts.

Solutions replace all 8 control arms with Rokmen, or savvy. Replace the shocks with old man emu, fox, bilstein, or rancho 9000 series. Get rid of the case drop and do a sye with dc drive shaft. Also looks to need longer sway bar links and it still has the factory track bar in the front.

6InARowMakesItGo its got at least lower rear control arms it looks like. i would think about replacing those with currie and getting a whole set. maybe think about new shocks. as for the rest i'd leave it if it's not broken.

I believe the lift is 4" (I measured the coils 16" front, 10" back), but as I said I'm not very knowledgeable... I'm not sure what control arms are - the red Skyjacker arms? I ASSUME it's got a t-case drop - the skid plate is lowered by about an inch.

What should I do with this lift?

Apparently, I've broken at least one rule of buying a Jeep - I bought a used, lifted 2003 Wrangler X. After looking on the forums, I found Skyjacker lifts are not well thought of. So should I look at replacing components? If so, which components? Should I redo the entire thing? I'm fairly mechanical (I do know the difference between SAE and metric...) but not very knowledgeable about these sorts of things. Any help / feedback is appreciated! Pix below...
