0III0forlife Yes, it should be the same. And its not the difference of the 4.2 and the 4.0, the only difference is what trans was in front of the t-case.

the 87-89 Yj's had a puegot BA10 5spd which has a different output shaft

90-95 have an AX15 trans with the 6cyl and an AX5 with the 4cyl.

If one of the YJ's was an auto, then the tailshaft on the trans will be different, as will the input gear on the t-case.

transfer case swap from 4.2 to 4.0

Will a transfer case from a 90 yj 4.2 fit a 4.0 yj both are np 231 and 2.72 ratio
