|SweetShelly||I have a used 97 TJ too. I have a rusted spot on my drivers side rear frame before the rear wheel. Where the upper control arm attaches to frame. There is a factory small hole for access to control arm but. Well that whole area is rotted through. My jeep is at the shop right now bc it fell off when I was off roading. My suggestion is to find a frame and just flip out ur old frame for the new one. when u get u new frame I recommend sealing it, to help it from rusting. If u go off roading and u are going through mud and water, u should fluch the frame out with water untill the water runs clear.|

major rot on frame - replace member ?
Sorry for all the post guys
As I tare into my used 97 TJ im finding many issues - all can be fixed but the one that sent shivers down my spine was tapping with a hammer and finding a major rot hole on my frame. So hear is my question as i have been searching the web on this-
Place - Drivers side rear frame before the rear wheel. Where the upper control arm attaches to frame. There is a factory small hole for access to control arm but. Well that whole area is rotted through. I looked up on line and found a company that sells section of the frame- ( this exact ) section that you cut our like a 2 foot section and re- weld the new member in place. Has anyone ever had this done ? Looks like a major undertaking but I guess a good welder can do it. Any suggestions ?
