|87yjAR||Also, torx bolts suck. Be sure to get several sockets because you will twist or break a few removing the cage bolts.|

|87yjAR||Believe it or not...I bolted a TJ cage into my 87. It tool a couple of drilled holes is all. When you say flat fenders do you mean tube style fenders?|

|scrambler1||just use a small punch and knock the liitle tit out of the center,then a normal torx bit will fit it.|

|jpdocdave||the cages are interchangeable, and the bar from the windshield to the hoop is bolted to the hoop, its a tamperproof torx if i remember right though, gotta have a special socket for it.|

Cage Swap and flat fenders
I now have two friends with YJs, one a 93, the other an 89. While working on the 89 today, I noticed that the sport style cage simply bolts to the floor. I can't remember offhand with the 93 though if it's bolted in or welded in. For some reason I could've sworn I saw part of the 93 was bolted in and the other part was welded in.
If it is simply bolt in, will an 87-91 cage bolt directly in place of the 92-95 cage? Also, are the sloped bars on the 87-91 YJs welded to the main hoop or can they be unbolted to make it easier to transport the cage?
And no, the guy with the 89, although he's about safety doesn't want the 92-95 cage with the shoulder belts so a simple trade is out of the question.
Finally, I know I've seen articles on here about how to do a flat fender conversion to a YJ, but I can't seem to find them. Can anyone help?
