T'sTJ Thanks. I'll pick up a new cooler.

It's funny you mention trans coolers. I recently put up a few for sale on CL, new in the box. They're by Hayden, unfortunately they don't fit my year Jeep.

What a deal... 2 for $40 (+S&H) or will swap both with someone for one for my year TJ.

The 97-2002 came with the 32RH not the 42RLE. As far as other parts I'm not entirely sure but you are going to need to have the trans cooler flushed or replaced especially since you had metal particles floating around in the trans. You don't want those making there way into your rebuilt trans.

Trans Swap Questions

My auto trans is dead. Shavings were found and it doesn't engage into any gear or if it does it slips out within seconds.

I found someone with a newly rebuilt one for about $1000. All Mopar parts were used in the rebuild. Comes with a warranty. I wrote him for details and awaiting a reply.

I was told that there are two different types of trans for my '97 6cyl Sport, one by Toyota and the other Mopar? Is this true? And does it matter which one I get since I'm completely swapping it out?

I need to find someone locally to install. I have too many back problems to even attempt it. I found a few guys on Craigslist that'll come to my house and do the work. Shops are just way too much for my budget @ $1800 to $2500. That's for rebuild and install. What seems like a reasonable price for install at my house?

What other parts might the installer need?

What questions might be important for me to ask both the installer and seller of the rebuilt trans?

Thanks for any help.
