|Iceweasle33||X2 (or 3) go with an 8.8... Cheaper and stronger than a Dana 44.|

|denisbaldwin||I wouldn't drop a dime into a D35. Garbage, even with not much bigger than stock tires. As soon as you add taller gears, you're putting more stress on internal parts that are already weak. If I were you (and I just did this myself), I'd go with a Ford 8.8 and regear it to 4.88 so you have your 5th gear back.|

I'd leave the 30 up front it's a good axle. If you want to beef it up throw some aftermarket shafts in it.
As for the rear you should look more into the 8.8.

rear axle upgrade
Ok so I bought a 4banger with a shitty Dana 35 in the rear and would really like to upgrade it for higher speed on the hyway and not loose power when I'm not on hardball. I was hoping someone could give me some advice I've been mulling over putting a Dana 44 in the rear but would know what to put up front and yes I want my 4x4. I have also heard of just re-gearing the front and rear both. The only reason I am considering this would be so i dont have to actually remove the axel just work inside the pumpkin as much as possible. Again if someone could give me a pro and con of both solutions thank you.
