Beastmaster Since the trailer hitch can only go on one way, so it's probably a problem with the bumper. I'd contact whoever you bought the bumber from.

4X4RDSTR I bought the hitch and wiring kit on Quadratec for $89 shipped. It installed perfectly on the stock rear bumper of my 2009 Wrangler X. I can only tow 2000# it says, but I only use the Jeep to tow my 22 ft boat of 4000 lbs for only 3 miles to place in the water and out twice a year. I do have trailer brakes though, still I would never tow on the highway.

Why your hitch won't fit is a mystery, but but obviously it does not do you any good.
I would go back to basics. Although the bumper may be compatible with the Jeep, and the hitch compatible with the stock bumper, that does not mean both hitch and bumper will be compatible with each other.

I like simplicity and find simplicity almost always works. Good luck.

Confused new member.. :-)

Hi My name is Jeff Love. I own a 2009 Jeep Wrangler unlimited X, I recently bought a boat, So I needed a Trailer Hitch. So I bought a brand new 2012 Mopar Hitch and Double tube bumper, 2 separate parts.. Anyways, Everywhere that I have read it says they are compatible. But I can not get anything at all to line up. Not hyst holes, Nothing lines up. So I don't think I need new brackets. Unless I'm doing something wrong, I don't think the 2012 bumper and hitch is compatible with the 09 unlimited X... Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
