|classic89yj||For the P R N D L shifter which is on the column on my '01 YJ. My '89 YJ has a 5 speed on the floor. It's either switch columns or find a console out of a Cherokee for the auto shifter. I'd rather have it on the column though.... and the '01 YJ has tilt wheel... a definate plus.|

|Felsengleiskette||why do you have to swap out steering columns ? im lost.|

|classic89yj||so the tranny and transfer case will work with the stock front and rear ends or will I have to replace them also?|

That's one pretty YJ!
When you swap in a V8 don't they suggest beefing up the axles?

|jgano23||yes i believe you can. you just need to get the righ fit up kit for the tranny to fit the engine. and the steering column will work too.|

Adding a V-8 Auto Tranny and Transfer Case... Suggestions???
Please bear with me as this is my first post and I have some questions...
What I have-
I have a 1989 YJ that's in Awesome shape, No Rust. Has the 151 ci, 4 cylinder with 189,000 and a 5 speed.
1991 Wrangler Renegade with a Junk / Blown 6 cylinder and Auto Tranny.
What I want to do-
Add a 4" lift, 33" tires and a Mopar 318 V-8.
Can I pull the auto tranny, transfer case and steering coloum from the Renegade and swap it into my 1989YJ, then add the Mopar 318 V-8.
See I have a hot line on the 318 that has only 50,000 miles on it, is a frequent driver and a real solid motor. My cousin can rebuild the tranny and check out the transfer case for me, so Im assuming all I would need to do is trade out steering coloums for the standard to automatic. Is there a kit I need for the motor swap, transmission kit or basically what will I need to do the sawp.
CAN THIS BE DONE?
Im adding a couple pics of my upgrades.
Please be polite as I am a total novice at this but Im learning alot.
Last summer I replaced the interior... From Gray to Black. 3 years ago I painted the entire Jeep with 27 cans of Krylon Spray Paint (YES I'm a woodchuck) but it came out half decent.
After the swap I will add the lift, tires and get a semi pro paint job. Im going with an Electric Neon Orange color with polished aluminum A/R Rims.
I will post the progress.
