Stumped I found the problem yesterday, the popping sound was a bolt in the steering gear breaking off causing the box to become very unstable. You can pretty much move it by hand now. The frame is cracked there also. I've got a welder coming out to patch the frame & reinforce the whole area. I've heard that this has been a common problem among wranglers & blazers.

Dang, I read that as one tire will turn and one won't

Take a picture of your steering and post it up, at least people will be able to tell you if anything looks out of place

Steering popped, no left turn now

Tonight as I was coming home, pulling in the driveway thankfully, my steering popped and making a left turn was next to impossible. The steering wheel was still easy to turn but the wheels don't want to turn left. A right turn is still normal as though nothing happened.
Any ideas as to what I've broken this time?
