|ryanmalzac1||Good thing i read this... I ordered all new tie rod and drag link and beshings for sway bar which all need to be replaced, but i was reading about disconnecting the track bars and was going to do it this weekend while im waiting for my other parts to come in, after reading this.... i think i'll wait till i replace my steering linkage and bushings before i removed the track bars. God i love this site|

|bangingears||well spent a few hours looking this thing over. found several reasons for what was going on. pitman arm was done, steering box was way out of adjustment, sway bar bushings were toast. both inner both tie rods had excessive play... basically the track bars where the only thing keeping it from doing as it wished... all is good now..|

Never heard of the light steering either. Im assuming you mean loose steering. Removing the trackbars will help "magnify" existing bad suspension parts, mostly bushings.
The cheap mod you speak of is probably adjusting the steering box.

Gots problems... removed track bar, added lift shackles...
I have done this to 4 jeeps without a single problem... a good friend of mine picked up a yj so we did a once over and decided to through on some lift shackles i had laying around. I have read about people experiencing "lite steering" with removing track bars, but i have never ever experienced this.. well this jeep has UNBELIEVABLY light steering... so bad that we put the front track bar back on just for him to drive home. I have heard of a cheap "mod" for the lite steering, anyone have a link or some pointers? I couldnt find anything on the search.
