If you're not ripping off the center rollbar cover where you wheel, you're not going to be ripping off the satellite antenna positioned underneath it either.

East coast trails Jerry... here in PA, low and tight is common even when on certain old logging trails and treading lightly...
I agree with you re: optimal reception, however in 4+ years I have yet to experience loss of reception strictly from antenna placement. Reception loss is much more likely from overhanging trees, cliffs, tall buildings, underpasses... anything that blocks line-of-sight from the satellite.

|Jerry Bransford||On top of the center rollbar hoop under the padding is optimal so far as reception is concerned. The satellite signals will pass through a fiberglass hard top or soft top like they weren't even there. There would be times/locations/driving directions when mounting the antenna on the cowl could block the satellite signal. The padding will protect the antenna if you happen to drive under a tree low enough to cause any problem which should be pretty darned rare if you're treading lightly and staying on a trail.|

|Atthehop||I get the idea. Yours is the same color as mine and we both have 1/2 doors.|

It is kind of hard to see, but look straight down from the bend in the drivers side wiper arm... small flat disc. Well protected in this location.

|lynn||On my 05, I added aftermarket Sirius. I put the antenna disc on the cowl., just off center. No reception issues, and no risk of damage when offroad and topless... where a rollbar mounted unit might be exposed to branches, etc.|

|Atthehop||Thanks for the info. Mine works fine I was just wondering if the factory had any better ideas.|

|02Prove||I installed Sirius on my old TJ and just tucked the antenna under the roll bar padding. It worked fine and I had to issues.|

|Mudweiser||My 06 came with the factory sirius...Antannae was on the drivers side rollbar...right to the left of the drivers head on top. Round sort of antannae with a special pad covering over it. Never used it and recently took it out. The bracket itself was metal ...pretty sturdy...but with aftermarket media unit, no use for it.|

Did any late model TJ's come with built in Sirius/XM option. Just wondering how they installed the antenna on a soft top. I have an aftermarket receiver and used Velcro to mount the antenna on top of the sound bar. It works fine but was just wondering.
