|Rockcop||My 99 auto is 3.07 gears. I believe that is more common than 3.73.|

|jrussblues||Jack up the rear axle, turn the tire and count the number of times it takes to turn the rear drive shaft over once. I think if you have an open rear diff then you have to divide that by two. That should get you in the ball park. Standard gearing would be around 3.73...typically on an auto. Should be easy to spot if its higher or lower than that.|

|Ek2000tj||Thanks for all the input. I'm pretty much a novice mechanically, does anyone know how I can tell if its regeared on an automatic? It doesn't feel too bogged down and just wondering if there's an easy way to tell. Thanks|

I have an LJ with 35's and I love it.
Was it worth it? For me, absolutely - it's not a daily driver and I love the 35s on the trail. We don't do anything hardcore, so breaking stuff hasn't been a problem (so far).
Is it worth it for you to upgrade to 35's? I think it depends on what you are going to with it.

|lapis_blue||If u don't have 5th gear that's a good way to know if its geared right, at highway speeds are u hanging out in 4th? If so down grade to 33's because the rest of the jeep probably isn't set up for 35's.|

|tjike||It really is up to you, but I would trade em. Especially if youre not set up to run 35's (brakes, steering, axles, gears, etc) then that would be the right choice IMO.|

Switching from 35s to 33s
Hey, just bought a 2000 tj sport 6 cyl, automatic. It has 35 inch tires with a 4 inch lift. I don't think it is regeared and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts if I should trade up with my friend who has 33s. Just trying to weigh the pros and cons.
