ChilliRed Yea im pretty happy. As soon as i pull everything out of the old 30 i will have spares for just about everything, i got some new u joints too just in case haha

the locker is the same for the HP30. the only thing you can't use for a HP30 is the regular dana 30's gears (obviously ) ...you can still use the dana 30 shafts as spares though for the HP30 if you ever need them

I put one in mine because I got a HP 30 out of a cherokee with 100k miles on it. I had no idea what kind of condition that axle was in. That's why I bought a new shaft and case. I was also gearing that axle at the same time so mine was a more logical decision.

why do you need a new cross shaft? I used the same one and I beat the crap out of mine and it has not let me down.

MR.CLIFFORD I wouldn't. I bought a hardened cross shaft from Randy's ring and pinion.

ChilliRed if i get one it will be an aussie most likely, they dont appear to come with a new cross shaft, can i find one at the local napa?

MR.CLIFFORD I have a lock right in my wifes HPD30. I replaced the carrier just for peace of mind and got a new cross shaft.

Angler1979 same part should fit both they both use the same carrier and have the same spline count. here is a good link for install help
I used this when I installed mine. i did not even use the directions that came with it.

Lunchbox in an HP30?

Anyone know if a lunchbox locker ie. lockrite, aussie will fit in a high pinion dana 30? I only ever see lunchboxs for sale for the dana 30 with no option for high pinion so I was just wondering since it is an upgrade i might do someday.
