Jerry Bransford That your engine's temperature varies around 210 degrees is as it was designed, 210 is its usual temperature.

The oil is pumped around the engine by a mechanical oil pump driven by the engine, so it will pump lower pressures at lower rpms and higher pressures at higher engine rpms. A good rule of thumb is approximately ten psi of oil pressure per thousand engine rpms.

Temperature and oil gauges

My temperature gauge slowly moves back and forth from just past 210 to just under. I mostly notice it on the freeway. My Jeep is leaking radiator fluid from the hose where it clamps to the top of the radiator, could these be linked?

Also my oil level gauge is usually above 40 but when I slow down for a light or something it goes down below that, is this just because the fluid moves farther from what ever it is that measures the levels?
