in the front, the coil can really only seat one way. the furthest edge of the coil should be seated into the notch in the spring perch on the axle. If it's seated in the notch like it should be, see post #2.

SinfulDragon Does it appear the spring is bowed on the one side? Perhaps this is as easy as a defective coil, or it needs rotated and seated properly, etc.

Ek2000tj Thank you very much. I honestly don't know much about this stuff but your answer definitely gives me a starting point.

UnlimitedLJ04 main things I'd suggest:
1. extend the bumpstops properly, from the spring pad up. Leave the cup in the stock location, and make sure to use a stock jounce bumper.
2. correctly set your caster by lengthening the lower control arms.
3. push the axle top full bump to make sure the bumpstops line up during the suspension cycle.
4. check the mounts for damage/bending
5. after all the above has been done, the last resort is to bend the bumpstop tower by hitting it with a BFH + block of wood.
6. stay away from "off-road shops"...a good one is really hard to find, and you may know more than them...some are notorious for bad advice and only trying to sell parts & labor. you're better off doing the research yourself and putting your money into tools.

Bump stop grinding against coil spring

I have a 2000 tj with a 4 inch rough country lift. I just purchased this and noticed that the front passenger side bump stop touches the coil spring. I don't hear any popping sound or anything like that but it concerned me bc the drivers side looks just fine. If it helps it looks like the bump stop is touching the front of the coil spring. I plan on taking it to an off road shop near me but I just wanted to get some ideas to avoid getting cheated since I don't know what could cause or fix this. Thanks!
