bondurant20 Ok yall I have just found another problem on the Jeep. I put in 4 wheel drive today for the first time in some mud and when it started spinning it made a lot of popping noises. any ideas as to what this is?

Johnnymoto Bond, congrats. Let me explain something I think we forgot to tell ya. When you lift a Jeep by lowering the Differentials from the chassis, the angle at which the shaft joints operate, get bigger, so the joints then work at a bigger angle, and that means they go bad sooner. Keep an eye on those if you have a lift kit.
On the accesories thing, ask the Jeepers in your area, specially those who have their Jeeps packed with goodies, sure they know every jeeper spot.

bondurant20 Thank you Johnnymoto I changed the U-joint and almost all of the vibration went away. I was glad it was only a $9 fix. Since I just got the jeep I wasn't trying to pour a bunch of money into repairs. However, I am in need of a few things as far as cosmetics like a new top, mirrors, and maybe a new exhaust. So if you know of any good cheap websites I would be gratefull. Thanks again.

Johnnymoto Bondurant, please, USE THE PROPER STANDS AND NEVER USE BLOCKS OR NOTHING UNDER THE TIRES, put the stands on the chassis or differentials very safely. Remember, when you play with the shafts, moving them will move the Jeep, and if your wheels are touching the ground, the Jeep can move and fall on top of you. Be carefull.

bondurant20 I've noticed that the vibration starts every time around 30 MPH while accelerating. I'm going to try to replace the U-Joints this weekend

That's very possible depending on how worn, but that should only come into effect when you use your clutch or rpm match.

A tcase drop will be on the skid plate, if there's a spacer between the frame and skid

bondurant20 Yeah I have no idea trans case drop? How would you tell? I am very new to having a Jeep and having a 4x4. I am wanting to do a few things to the Jeep. Just trying to get the vibration out of it now. Someone told me that it may be the clutch and preasure plate. Is that a possibility?

If its not the U joints as you and JohnnyMoto are talkin', it could be an issue with the DS angle due to a 4 in lift. Do you know if it has a trans case drop kit or a sye and CV shaft?

Johnnymoto Hey, just be sure you chok the Jeep, and never ever lift it without proper stands. It does not matter if the Jeep is on the ground, the shafts are going to be locked to the differentials. The seals on the joint can be checked by rotating one of the Jeep tires if the Jeep is lifted off the ground. If the problem happens ( vibration ) when in 2x4, don`t worry yet about the front shaft. If you don`t want to lift the Jeep, just carefully moving it a bit forward or aft, ( couple of inches ) will move the shafts. Mark the ones you already checked as to avoid checking the same ones more than once.

Johnnymoto Bondurant20, you can easily check for a bad "U" joint by holding the shaft solidly, and powerfully shaking it, it should be very tight into the "U" joints. Another way to find a bad joint, look carefully with a good lamp at the rubber seals on the joints bearings, there are four seals on each joint, one on every tip of the "+" shaped joint, if you have a bad joint, you will see like rust coming out of the seal, like a different color sipping from the seal. if thats there, that joint is going bad most probably. Anywho, changing the joints is an easy task, if you haven`t in a while, it`ll be wise to change them anyways, do it 99% chance that will fix it.

Bad vibration

I have just bought my first Jeep and it has a bad vibration but only when im pressing the gas. It stops when I left off the gas and when I press in the clutch. I've been told that it may be the U-joint. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
