Jerry Bransford Better check first whether your rear axle is a Dana 35c which isn't strong enough to hold up to a locker and 33" tires, or the optional extra-cost much stronger Dana 44 axle that is strong enough.

No exaggeration, find out which rear axle you have first before paying to have an ARB locker into it. No problem on the front Dana 30, it's the rear that you need to check. Snapped axleshafts are common from locking a rear Dana 35c with tires as big as 33"... or often even smaller.

The weaker Dana 35c rear axle can be identified by looking at the oval-shaped cover where you add gear lube on the rear, where you'll find a black-rubber snap in cover in the fill hole.

The stronger Dana 44 has a threaded bolt that plugs the fill hole on it's angular-shaped non-oval differential cover.

ARB Install and gears

I just bought a 1997 TJ with 4 inch lift and 33"s. I have ordered 4.10 ratio front and back and ARB lockers front and back. My question is what should i be paying to have this all installed and wired up to the compressor. I got a quote from one local 4x4 shop of $ 1000.00. Does that sound right. Thanks in advance.
