tangofox007 A failed alternator diode will cause a whine.

Using the alternator to charge a dead battery sometimes has its consequences.

2.5L, Whining from alternator?

Sunday I accidently left the keys in the ignition with the battery on, battery dies. No biggy jump it yesterday. After I jump it the slight whining noise now sounds like a turbo. I checked all over the engine, belts etc. and it seems to be coming from the alternator side. Could it be the alternator. Before there was a slight whistle but now its a heck of alot louder. Any thoughts?
